The forthcoming Champions League clash between Juventus and Manchester United is set to break box office records at the Stadio Delle Alpi. With just less than two weeks to go before the February 25 clash some 50,000 tickets have been sold for the unloved stadium which Juve fans have never taken to their hearts since moving there from the Stadio Communale in 1990.

The Delle Alpi stadium has a 71,012 capacity and was built for the Italy 1990 World Cup but the attendance record remains the 65,387 achieved in the 1991-1992 UEFA Cup final between Torino and Ajax.

For Juventus, the record was set in the 1992-1993 season when Juve played hosts to AC Milan in a league match that saw an attendance of 63,802. Yet the European clash against Sir Alex Ferguson's side is now bound to surpass the Juventus record.

Juventus first travel to Old Trafford on February 19 in the hope of taking the lead in Group D. Going into that game they are two points behind leaders United.

Last season, Juventus chiefs floated the idea of playing home matches at neutral grounds all around Italy as they claimed the support they received on their travels was better than that received at the Delle Alpi. The Turin club has a vast country-wide support base with surveys showing it is even the second best supported club in Milan which is host to both AC Milan and Inter Milan.
