He may not actually be the most hated person in football but every now and again he receives a more than fair share of scepticism and negativity from those who do not think very much of him
Some may say it is his fault, sometimes rightly so but it could be just circumstances not going his way
Here we take a look at who probably dislikes Louis van Gaal and why that may be the case.
Luca Toni a mercurial striker in his time, certainly at the top of his game when LVG arrived at Bayern Munich
He has been the top scorer for the two seasons before but was swiftly consigned to the bench by the Dutch manager
Luca Toni was not too happy and later went on to say, “The way van Gaal treated the key players was unworthy on a human basis.”
Rivaldo a Brazilian legend, a Barcelona stalwart, a fanÂ’s favourite but Mr van Gaal did not seem to care
He thought the Brazilian was excess to requirements and that caused public outrage, Catalan news agencies were dragged into the fray, that was a story in itself, one of LVGÂ’s tussles with the media
“ I don’t like van Gaal and he doesn’t like me,” Rivaldo said.
Hristo Stoichkov was a good player and an incredibly vocal former player
He was one of van GaalÂ’s victims at Barcelona and he has been thus far pretty clear about how that made him feel
His most recent outburst was pretty scathing, “ He’s mediocre, he destroyed Barcelona and is destroying Manchester United
With what he has done at United, he has shown he is a bad person.”
Angel di Maria a record signing from Real Madrid, it certainly looked like a perfect match, a pacey winger in a team that needed a main man but it never happened
A bit of an injury left in on the bench for the rest of the season, it just wouldnÂ’t happen for him
This is what di Maria had to say, “ van Gaal has his philosophy and one of the things that made me want to leave is that it is difficult to adapt to van Gaal
I had a couple of rows with him.”
Rafael “ I know that he didn’t like me, if that is because he is Brazilian I don’t know
I was going well then Ferguson left
That change was fatal for me.
Johan Cruyff “ We have bad chemistry.”
Hugo Sanchez “ van Gaal made a bad decision and it is not one he’s done for the first time, he’s done it 50 000 times
IÂ’ve coached and a coach cannot do that to their own player
What a scoundrel.”
Louis van Gaal certainly seems to have more enemies than friends out there but that usually goes with success so one would think he is actually doing his job well.
