"Past experience tells us that we play our best football against the top teams. Sometimes you’re better to play one of the bigger teams earlier on in the competition because you know all about them and also know what you’ve got to do to beat them. If you’re going to go all the way in the competition you’ve got to play the best teams at some stage, so why not get them out of the way sooner rather than later."
Looks like Wilf may have been at the Christmas booze:
"I really think it could be our year this time round we’re certainly in with a far better chance of winning the European Cup than the league at the moment. There are a lot of tremendous teams in the competition; the Italians have hit form, while the Spaniards are always a threat. But I really believe we’ve got a great chance and we’ve certainly got the ability to score more goals than most teams we come up against."
