WIll Cristiano Ronaldo Return To Manchester United

Last updated : 14 January 2013 By DSG

Cristiano Ronaldo has recently made it clear that he has no intentions of leaving Real Madrid until the end of his contract, at least. The Portuguese has been linked with both English champions Manchester City and PSG, and even a return 'home' to Manchester United, but will we see the Real Madrid star move any time soon?

The 27 year old, who arrived at the Santiago Bernabeu from Manchester United in the summer of 2009, has a contract till 2015 with Real. Ronaldo says he has no intention of leaving the Spanish outfit any time soon, but after seeing Lionel Messi sign six new contracts and win three Ballon d'Ors' in his time in Spain, could Ronaldo eventually pack his bags and leave Madrid?

"I want to see out my contract at Real Madrid, I?m very clear about that. After that, well, I don?t know what will happen in the future," the prolific attacker told Fifa.com.

"Am I happy? Honestly, yes. I?m doing something I like, something that I enjoy. I know how fortunate I am and I feel very fulfilled."

This is the first time we've heard Ronaldo talk about his situation at Real, amidst all the controversy surrounding his contract and the new tax laws in Spain. Many believe Ronaldo has been holding out for a new contract & pay rise at Madrid, whilst others think Ronaldo wants to return to Manchester United, with the star admitting he 'misses Sir Alex Ferguson and Man United.'

PSG and Manchester City have also been linked with Ronaldo, with both clubs able to offer the Real Madrid star a very wealthy pay package, but would a move from Madrid be too much of a step down for Ronaldo?

Manchester City are arguably one of the most dominant forces in English football, but have failed to reach similar heights in European football, failing to reach the latter stages of the competition for two seasons in a row now. Whilst any Manchester United fan would like to believe that Ronaldo's connections to Manchester United would see any potential deal break down.

PSG are in a similar boat to City, but are yet to stamp their authority in their domestic league just yet, as they currently sit second behind Lyon on 39 points. Unlike City they have reached the latter stages of the Champions League, as they travel to Valencia in the last 16. PSG boast many of the world's top talents already with Zlatan Ibrahimovic and Thiago Silva, but could you really see Ibrahimovic and Ronaldo together upfront?

It seems to me Ronaldo will remain at Real Madrid till the end of his contract. After that, who knows? He may sign an extension, he may return to Manchester United, or he may be tempted by one final mega pay cheque at PSG.

We'll have to wait till 2015 to find out, mind you.
