'WORKING HIS SOCKS OFF'

Last updated : 21 January 2007 By Ed

"You could say in a lot of cases with Wayne, he has had bad luck.

"I pointed out before the Villa league match that, in the cup tie, he had had nine attempts at goal. It was a similar situation last week. He had a fantastic strike that hit the bar.

"He is just needing a little break. There is nothing wrong with that. I am not concerning myself with that. It will come.

"What he needs to do is get these odd goals. He has had spells of three and a two. He needs to get into that one-goal-a-game run that strikers do for you.

"If he does that it will make a big, big difference to our run-in.

"He is working his socks off. He has a terrific attitude to the game and we are quite happy with that.

"He is a great example of a great player. He is prepared to work as hard as everyone else on the park. He is telling the other players that although I am a great player I am prepared to work as hard as anyone. It is a fantastic example."
