WORSLEY WHINGERS

RYAN Giggs has won some neighbourly support for his goal to demolish a Victorian mansion and build an ultra-modern replacement. Millionaire bookie Fred Done says the star's plans to bulldoze Silver How will enhance Worsley.
Giggs acquired the £1.9m red-brick mansion, which stands in an acre of grounds in Chatsworth Road overlooking the village's golf course.

He wants to knock it down and put up a six-bedroom home complete with gym and swimming pool. Locals are poised to object to the proposal, which is to be considered by councillors next month. One formal complaint has already been received and others are likely to follow.

Worsley councillor Ian MacDonald said: "I think it is a shame Silver How is being knocked down. I have received complaints from about 10 people who feel the same. But it is Mr Giggs' property and as long as it is within planning restrictions he can do what he wants."

Fred said: "This is typical of the Worsley whingers who complain about everything. They complained about the racecourse and they even complained about plans to clean up the canal. There will always be busybodies and tin-pot local councillors who have nothing better to do than complain. Ryan has had every chance to move abroad and make a home overseas. But he is a local Worsley lad and wants to live here. His roots are here. He wants to pull down the ugliest house in Worsley and whatever he puts up will be an improvement."
