WORTHLESS AFTER ALL

Fergie wants to forget about the Worthington Cup and he isn't going to get carried away with trophy talk.

"The way I look at it we are only going on three fronts now," says Fergie.

"There won't be a replay against Liverpool in the Worthington Cup final so it is just one extra game now.

"We are not bothering about the quadruple talk. It is nice for the headline makers. But I am not going to get carried away with it and I don't think my players will. It is okay for the fans to dream.

"But the players certainly have the bit between their teeth and that showed in the Chelsea game that they are not going to give in. It is a terrific quality to have and to see that.

"The players are going for it and I am happy at that."

The official shite reports that Manchester United will play their Worthington Cup final against Liverpool in white shirts, white shorts and white socks.

Meanwhile, Paul Durkin has been announced as the referee for the big game in Cardiff. He has taken charge of two United games so far this season, last weekend's 2-1 win over Chelsea and the Manchester Derby at Maine Road.
