The best full-back in the country will this week sign for the biggest and bestest club in Manchester and The Evening News want you to know that Danny Mills elbowed aside a host of suitors to sign for the Liars.

'Mills started his career at Norwich before moving to Charlton. He later moved to Leeds where he became a huge crowd favourite. But after falling out with former boss Peter Reid, he spent the last 12 months at Middlesbrough, where he won a Carling Cup medal. Middlesbrough were interested in signing him on a permanent basis, as were Newcastle, but the prospect of coming to City and working with Keegan swung things in the Blues favour.' Apparently everything went dead smoothly once Leeds agreed to give him £2 million to go.

Keegan said: "I’m delighted to get a player of Danny’s experience but there are other areas of the team that still need strengthening. I’m looking to make one more signing before the start of the season."

Meanwhile former City target Edgar Davids decided to put pride and self-esteem ahead of the lure of Wastelands and signed for Inter Milan on a three-year deal. Inter have also signed Veron.
