"The proceedings will not in any way affect the way I focus on my job as manager of Manchester United.
"Those proceedings will not affect the way this club is run or the way I do my job.
"There is always something flying around at this club which could serve as a distraction but it never does with me. You either have the ability inside you to focus on the job in hand or you haven't. And I have it.
"I expect the players to be absolutely focused on their jobs so they expect the same from their manager and that is what they get from me.
"This particular issue, admittedly, is more high-profile than others I have been involved in but there are times when you have to do what you think is right.
"I have had no discussions with the board about the action I have taken because this is a personal matter rather than club business.
"The people at that level know that I won't let it affect the way this club is run so, as far as I am concerned, that is the end of the matter."
There were widespread reports this morning that tension has reached such levels between the two men that Magnier has hired a US investigation agency to probe Ferguson's business affairs.
