The Sun claims that David Beckham and Gary Neville had an argument as to whether the England squad should strike or not.

The Sun's anonymous source allegedly close to Becks revealed: “The two of them had a furious argument which must have gone on until two in the morning on Wednesday.

“David was telling Gary things like, ‘This is all going to come back on me because I’m the captain’.”

In the end the strike threat was lifted. The source said of Becks and his former Manchester United team-mate Neville: “They are still friends. David supports the principle of supporting Rio but not the strike threat.”

An insider in the England camp also confirmed: “David was never happy with the strike call. He felt the point had been made and that the players should not have pushed it.”
