YORKE GIVEN A FREE?

Yorke and Souness have barely been on speaking terms since the two had a training-ground clash last season.

"Souness came over the top of me in a tackle during training. He could have broken my leg - I have absolutely no doubt about that," Yorke told The News of the World. "I was astonished when it happened. My leg was badly gashed, bruised and swollen and I still have the scar on my shin to show what happened."

"From that moment I just lost all respect for Souness. We have hardly spoken a word since - apart from the occasional `Good morning' if we pass each other in the corridor."

Yorke is now looking to get out:

"I have been given a free transfer which, hopefully, will help me find a new club quickly. All I want to do is find a manager who will relate to me and allow me to play with the freedom and expression that I have displayed during my successful seasons. Ideally I want to stay in The Premiership, but I might have to go abroad."

Hmm, another case of talent wasted.
