Telegraph:

‘United's solicitor Maurice Watkins said after the hearing that the club would not rush into a quick decision. However, it is understood that Keane and his legal team have already begun to consider preparing an appeal case.

Keane was found guilty by an independent commission from the FA of Barry Bright, Colin Taylor and councillor Maurice Armstrong, but should the United captain's case go to appeal he would face two councillors and an independent QC.

United would rather their player begin his ban as scheduled on Nov 4, which would allow him to return to the side in time for the home match against Arsenal on Dec 7.

Meanwhile, there were further suggestions that Manchester City would soon announce the details of their legal case against Keane for his controversial tackle on Alf-Inge Haaland in April 2001.

Two months ago City announced they were taking legal advice over revelations in Keane's autobiography that he set out to injure Haaland but since then the club have refused to comment.

The City chairman, David Bernstein, will address the club's annual meeting tomorrow and is expected to announce the next move in what is potentially an explosive legal case. Bernstein said yesterday that City had taken account of the FA's ruling on Keane.

Dag Seinfeldt, Haaland's lawyer, said that his client's case against Keane was close to completion. "You could say it [the FA verdict] was positive but then again it wasn't unexpected," Seinfeldt said. "We're working on preparing the lawsuit and, though it's impossible to say when it will happen, I don't think we're too far away. I think it could well happen before the New Year."’
