United lost their first Pontins League match of the season in a difficult game with Oldham Athletic.

After taking the lead, a younger than usual United side fell 4-1 behind before
eventually losing 5-3.As predicted the absence of many regulars who were away on first-team duty proved the main problem.

Fraizer Campbell put the Reds in front on 34 minutes, while Chris Lever
equalised two minutes before half-time.

In a disastrous three-minute spell, Oldham moved into a three goal lead as
Woolfenden, Arber and Hall struck between 56 and 59 minutes.

Fine finishes from Giuseppe Rossi and Jami Puustinen put United within sight of the visitors, only for Woolfenden's second to finally kill United off.
Oldham now top the league table two points clear of United.

United team: Crockett, Simpson, Lea, J Evans, R Jones, Gibson, Gray (Mullan), Martin, Campbell (Puustinen), Rossi, S Evans (Rose). Substitutes: Marsh, Heaton.
