YOU'RE AVIN' A LARF

Gazzetto dello Sport Italy's leading daily sports newspaper claims that the Reds are willing to offer £40 million for Trezeguet and that the Italian giants could offer Davids and cash in exchange for Juan Veron.

Does all that seem a bit too much? Well there's more

It's also believed that the transfer window could also see Mikael Silvestre leave Old Trafford, the paper claims. The full back is thought to be a target for AC Milan as they try to replace the irreplaceable Paulo Maldini.

Would this be better than playing for Wales.

Inter Milan are reportedly preparing a £40m move for Ryan Giggs and Sheep striker Alan Smith.

Club president Massimo Moratti wants both Manchester United winger Giggs and Leeds striker Smith as Inter push for domestic and European honours, according to The Sun newspaper.

And the report claims that Inter are ready to spend £20m on each player, and offer Giggs a four-year contract worth £16m after tax.

Liars

Meanwhile Jaap Stam doesn't seem to be interested in a move to the Liars, especially when he told the Mirror "I am still a united fan".

On his web site Jaap set the record straight

A lot of people have been asking me about a story which appeared on the back page of an English newspaper on Sunday which said Manchester City were keen to sign me in January and actually quoted me as saying I would be very interested in going to Maine Road.

For the record, this is nonsense and I can categorically deny that I said any such thing. Being asked whether I would sign for Manchester City is not something you forget and I know I have not spoken to anyone about this. I know the truth does not always get in the way of a good story but this is going too far.

Players often claim they have been misquoted or mistranslated when such stories appear but this has not happened here. The paper has simply made it all up.
