YOUTH UNDER THE COSH

"When you play the champions it's always a big game and it was today, a fantastic game, a fantastic spectacle," Ferguson told Sky.

"I think for an hour we were terrific I think up until the last five minutes we were really under the cosh because they went for everything and that's what champions do.

"They are young players who have to get consistency and that's what happens when you play a lot of young players, the bones of the team at the moment are all sitting in the stands, no use to us.”

"But the young players have been carrying the mantle for weeks now and all their desperation and keenness to play has been fantastic, a great attitude to have, so we can take something out of that."

"I think all the players and staff have shown great dignity, and no matter the criticism levelled at them they've got on with their job."
