United's Reserves lost 2-0 to an experienced Liverpool side at a very wet Moss Lane on Monday night.

The visiting Scousers went two goals up in the first thirteen minutes, both scored by Neil Mellor. Colin Heath came close to halving the deficit in the 29th minute when his shot was saved by Pegguy Arphexad but spinned towards goal. A wicked bounce took it wide of the post, however.

Kieran Richardson then hit the bar twice in the space of three minutes, both from identical volleys from outside the area. It was then United realised it wasn't going to be their night.

Heads didn't go down, however, and the Reds continued to make chances.
It was a good performance from a young Reds team against a very experienced Liverpool side.

United team: Jowsey; Rankin, Pugh, Roche, Lynch; Richardson, Fox, Fletcher, Davis; Nardiello, Heath.
