Manchester United forward Benjamin Sesko has withdrawn from the Slovenia national squad on Monday morning after reporting muscle tightness in his thigh.
The 23-year-old striker was evaluated by national team doctors before the decision was taken to return him to Carrington for specialised care.
The withdrawal comes as head coach Michael Carrick seeks to stabilise United domestic form following a mixed opening month that included a 1-1 draw at Fulham and an intense derby defeat to Manchester City.
Sesko has formed a key part of Carrick attacking rotation, providing physical hold-up play and aerial presence in the final third.
United medical personnel will oversee Sesko recovery programme over the remainder of the international window, aiming to have him available for selection when domestic football resumes in October.
Carrick is hopeful that the early rest will allow the Slovenian international to make a rapid return without missing competitive fixtures.
