Manchester United have reached a definitive decision to retain Michael Carrick as head coach, following discussions between senior club figures and key dressing-room leaders.
United have endured a stuttering start to their domestic campaign, sitting in mid-table after dropping points late on in a 1-1 draw against 10-man Tottenham Hotspur on Saturday.
Despite public speculation regarding potential replacements, several senior players intervened directly to express complete faith in Carrick's tactics.
Addressing the media before boarding the team flight to Madrid on Tuesday afternoon, Carrick reaffirmed his commitment to steadying the side.
"We know the expectations at this club, and nobody is hiding from our recent results," he said. "The focus is entirely on delivering a disciplined, complete performance."
United face Atletico Madrid at the Metropolitano Stadium tonight, with central defender Matthijs de Ligt passed fit to return to the matchday squad.
